This will be fun. You can make money online in several ways by creating a social network site. We'll automatically notify registered monkeys when this project is ready to start, I'd say in about 4 weeks. This is a completely free project and involves no knowledge of HTML or programming. If needed, we'll show you some easy HTML when the time comes, so don't worry about that. I will also set up chat sessions so that everyone who decides to do this project will be able to ask direct questions. There are some things you will need to do now to get ready for this project. They are as follows: - Decide if this is something you want to spend your time on. Any successful social network site requires time, planning and maintenance. You can also ask a friend to join you in this project but I recommend doing it alone at first because then you have full control and you can stick with your vision. What you CAN do is just ask a friend to join the project for themselves. Also decide whether or not you want this to be a way for you to make money online.
- Think of a social network you'd like to create. If you're not sure below are some ideas to get the brain juices flowing. Some things to consider when deciding on your niche community are whether or not it is too competitive, too broad, or too limited. The ultimate goal is to have a fun or informative community that generates you some money too! Competing with the big guns will take money and more time. You can do that once you get your feet wet. If you've decided to use this project to make money online, you will need to choose a niche to which you can market products, books, CDs, DVDs, or other merchandise, none of which you will need to provide yourself and we'll show you how.
- Research your ideas to see what the potentials are. Google your niche to see what comes up. For instance if you want to do a social network site for girl snowboarders, check out who's already doing something like this. Let's have a look....ok, so I did a quick glance over the first 2 pages of google and nothing came up there. This doesn't mean there isn't one, but the first two pages are where they should be if they know what they are doing.
- Check how many ads there are (row of ads on the right when you brows Google). Well, for girl snowboarders there are two or three (depends on when you're browsing). Why does this matter? Well, when you are getting ready to drive traffic to your site you may get a cheap spot right there on google ads. We'lll explain more about this possible traffic generating option.
- Now go to Google's keyword tool and type in girl snowboarders. This will show you list of how many searches there are for that particular keyword and related keywords. It also show you the advertiser competition (the ads to the side of Google's search page). These numbers will give you a general idea of how much search there is for you niche. But the success of your site is not necessarily based on search volume. There are many sites you can start for other people who already have a list who would join. More on that later.
- Do steps 3, 4, and 5 for different ideas you have and keep a note of them. When we're ready to get going on this project you'll have a general idea at least of the search volume, direct and advertiser completion.
To help you brainstorm social network ideas or niches, here is a list to consider: - Sports - pick a specific sport or a sport's team that is big enough to have lots and lots of fans
- Bands - perhaps a local band that has a large following. You can offer to setup the social network site for them. They should have an e-mail list of fans that you will be able to e-mail once the site is ready.
- Schools - particularly Universities or State Colleges. In this project you can get departments or clubs involved in updating their own "group" within your site
- Medical professionals - nurses, brain surgeons, etc. they may like to have a place to congregate
- Large religious organizations
- Local regions - Get to know your neighbors in your city or county. As long as it's large enough because a village of 100 is hmmm fun maybe but not going to generate income for ya. If you choose to do this option I have plenty of ideas for you to make money.
- Support groups - if it's large enough you can make some $$$ otherwise it's going to be a labor of love, which is ok too if that's your goal.
- Local Moms network
- Local stuff to do network - the community will be able to list events, parties, parades, art exhibits, whatever.
- Organizations who already have a following but no online presence - there are plenty of organizations who may have a website but certainly not a member's network. You can create it for them and just charge a fee for your service.
- Camping
- Sailing
- Biker clubs
- Business networks
- Chambers of commerce
- Book clubs - a good one for if you want to make money online
- Animal lovers of many kinds - a good one if you want to make money online
- Cultural Groups - by this I mean certain people who are not from the country they are living in; like Swedish people in America or Mexicans in Russia. It will be more lucrative if you did a large demographic though.
Ok, that should get you going for a bit. I'll catch up with you soon! |
